Kenji Nakaya is a Japanese politician currently serving as the Mayor of Ichikikushikino City in Kagoshima Prefecture. Born in 1955, he graduated from the Shimonoseki City University in 1979 and spent his early career as a local government official in Kushikino City. Following the merger that created Ichikikushikino City, he held various administrative roles, including head of the general affairs and finance divisions, before retiring in 2016. He subsequently served as the city's deputy mayor. Nakaya was first elected mayor in 2021 after running unopposed and was re-elected in 2025 after defeating two challengers.
