Kenji Ogiwara is a Japanese politician and former professional Nordic combined skier. Widely known as the "King of Skiing" during his athletic career, he achieved consecutive gold medals at the 1992 and 1994 Winter Olympics and secured three consecutive overall World Cup titles. Following his retirement from sports, he served one term as a member of the House of Councillors from 2004 to 2010, during which he held the position of Parliamentary Vice-Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry. In 2021, he was elected Mayor of Nagano and was subsequently re-elected in 2025. His administration focuses on local governance and municipal development in Nagano City.
