Elected in the 2024 general election, he represents the Saskatchewan Party. In December 2025, he was appointed as the Minister of Highways for the province. Prior to his entry into provincial politics, Gartner served as a school trustee with the Living Sky School Division. He was born near Macklin, Saskatchewan.
