First elected in 2007, he has held various roles within the Saskatchewan New Democratic Party, including serving as interim leader and Leader of the Opposition from 2016 to 2017. Throughout his legislative career, he has acted as a critic for numerous portfolios, including Finance, Education, and Agriculture, and currently chairs the Public Accounts Committee.
