Kiyoshi Odawara

Kiyoshi Odawara is a Japanese politician serving as a member of the House of Representatives. A graduate of the University of Tokyo, he previously worked in the financial sector at firms including Fuji Bank, Merrill Lynch, Goldman Sachs, and Morgan Stanley. Odawara has held several government positions, including State Minister for Foreign Affairs and Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs. Politically, he is known for his conservative stances, supporting the revision of Article 9 of the Japanese Constitution, the establishment of a national defense force, and the creation of emergency provisions. He is also a member of the group of lawmakers who visit Yasukuni Shrine. After losing his seat in the 2024 general election following a political funding scandal, he was re-elected to the House of Representatives in 2026.
