Before his election to the regional parliament, he served as a municipal councilor in Mol from 2012 to 2024 and as a provincial councilor in Antwerp, where he chaired the Welfare Committee. Dillen is a member of the New Flemish Alliance and continues to maintain his professional background in medicine alongside his legislative duties.
