Hiroyuki Konishi is a Japanese politician and former bureaucrat currently serving as a member of the House of Councillors, representing the Chiba at-large district. After graduating from the University of Tokyo, he worked for the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications and held various roles in the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications. First elected to the upper house in 2010, he has since secured three terms. Konishi is known for his focus on constitutional issues, media policy, and administrative oversight. He gained significant public attention in 2023 for exposing internal government documents regarding the interpretation of the Broadcast Act during the Abe administration.
