Kris Poelaert is a Belgian politician currently serving as a Member of the Flemish Parliament and as the mayor of the newly formed municipality of Pajottegem. A member of the Christian Democratic and Flemish (CD&V) party, he previously served as the mayor of Herne from 2001 until 2024, following in the footsteps of his father. Throughout his career, he has held various roles including provincial councilor for Flemish Brabant and co-opted senator. Poelaert holds a degree in business management and worked in the insurance and retail sectors before dedicating himself to full-time politics.
