Lai Shyh-bao

Lai Shyh-bao is a Taiwanese politician and engineer currently serving as a member of the Legislative Yuan. Born in Taipei in 1951, he holds a Ph.D. in industrial and systems engineering from the University of Southern California. Before his full-time political career, he was a professor and chair of the graduate school of business administration at National Chengchi University. Lai has been a prominent figure in the Kuomintang, having served as the party's caucus whip and as a candidate for the Legislative Yuan speakership. His legislative career began with the New Party in 1999 before he transitioned to the Kuomintang.
