Laura Friedman is an American politician serving as the U.S. Representative for California's 30th congressional district. Before her election to Congress, she served in the California State Assembly from 2016 to 2024 and was a member of the Glendale City Council, including a term as mayor. A member of the Democratic Party and the Congressional Progressive Caucus, Friedman is known for her legislative work on housing policy, environmental protection, and animal welfare, including authoring landmark state laws to eliminate parking mandates near transit and ban the sale of fur products.
