Mike Simpson

Mike Simpson is an American politician serving as the U.S. Representative for Idaho's 2nd congressional district since 1999. A member of the Republican Party, he is widely regarded as a moderate who emphasizes bipartisanship and compromise in governance. Before his election to Congress, Simpson served in the Idaho House of Representatives, including a tenure as Speaker of the House from 1992 to 1998. Professionally trained as a dentist, he practiced in Blackfoot, Idaho, for many years. Throughout his congressional career, he has focused on issues such as environmental policy, including the creation of wilderness areas in central Idaho, and has held key assignments on the House Committee on Appropriations.
