Laura Richardson is an American politician currently serving as a member of the California State Senate for the 35th district, having assumed office in 2024. Previously, she represented California's 37th congressional district in the U.S. House of Representatives from 2007 to 2013 and served in the California State Assembly. Before her legislative career, she was a member of the Long Beach City Council and worked for Xerox Corporation. Richardson holds an MBA from the University of Southern California and a bachelor's degree in political science from UCLA.
