Laura Sturgeon

Laura Viviana Sturgeon is an American politician serving as a member of the Delaware Senate for District 4. Born in Florida to Argentine immigrant parents and raised in Delaware, she spent over 20 years as a public school teacher and served as a leader in the Delaware State Education Association. Sturgeon made history as the first Latina to serve in the Delaware General Assembly after winning her seat in 2018. In the Senate, she is recognized for her focus on education policy, including efforts to modernize reading instruction and establish the Public Education Funding Commission.
