Beyond his parliamentary duties, he remains a significant cultural figure, serving as the symbolic and spiritual head of the traditional rituals of the former kingdom of Manipur. In 2020, he founded the group Arambai Tenggol, which has been noted for its involvement in the ongoing Manipur conflict.
