Leon Basson is a South African politician serving as a Member of the National Assembly since 2014. A long-time member of the Democratic Alliance (DA), he currently chairs the National Assembly's Portfolio Committee on Water and Sanitation and serves as the party's provincial leader in the North West. Prior to his parliamentary career, Basson was a local councillor in the Madibeng Local Municipality for nearly two decades. Throughout his tenure in the National Assembly, he has focused extensively on water and sanitation policy, having served as the DA's Shadow Minister for the portfolio for several years.
