Born in Ukraine, he emigrated to Chicago at the age of seven before eventually settling in New Hampshire. A member of the Republican Party, Berezhny has been a vocal critic of the Russian invasion of Ukraine and has supported legislative efforts regarding cannabis legalization in the state. He successfully won re-election to his seat in 2024.
