Liesbeth Spies

Liesbeth Spies is a Dutch politician and administrator who served as the Mayor of Alphen aan den Rijn from 2014 to 2025. A member of the Christian Democratic Appeal (CDA), she previously served as the Minister of the Interior and Kingdom Relations in the first Rutte cabinet from 2011 to 2012. Her career includes extensive experience in the House of Representatives and as a provincial executive in South Holland. In 2025, she transitioned to the private sector as the chair of the housing association Aedes.
