Liezl van der Merwe

Liezl van der Merwe is a South African politician serving as a Member of the National Assembly representing the Inkatha Freedom Party. Born in Goodwood, Cape Town, she obtained a Diploma in Journalism and worked for the broadcaster ITV in London before returning to South Africa and entering politics. She first became a Member of Parliament in May 2012 and has since secured subsequent terms, including in the 2024 general election. Within the Inkatha Freedom Party, she holds key leadership responsibilities as the Director of Communications and a member of the party's National Council.
