Liz Mathis is an American politician and former broadcast journalist who has served as a member of the Iowa Senate since 2011. Before entering politics, she had a long career in television news, working as an anchor and reporter for stations including KWWL and KCRG-TV, and later served as a non-profit executive. In the Iowa Senate, she has focused on issues such as education, commerce, and economic growth. Mathis was the Democratic nominee for Iowa's 1st congressional district in 2022. She is also a member of the Wartburg College Board of Regents.
