Liz Twist

Liz Twist is a British Labour Party politician serving as the Member of Parliament for Blaydon and Consett since 2024, having previously represented the Blaydon constituency from 2017 to 2024. Before entering national politics, she served as a councillor for Gateshead Council and worked as a senior official for the trade union UNISON. Throughout her career, she has focused on issues such as housing, local government services, and suicide prevention. In 2024, she resigned from her position as chair of the board of trustees at Age UK Gateshead following public criticism regarding her support for government restrictions on the Winter Fuel Payment.
