Lori Chavez-DeRemer is an American politician and businesswoman who served as the United States Secretary of Labor from 2025 to 2026. Prior to her cabinet appointment, she served as the U.S. Representative for Oregon's 5th congressional district from 2023 to 2025 and as the mayor of Happy Valley, Oregon, from 2011 to 2019. A graduate of California State University, Fresno, she began her career in the private sector before entering local politics. During her time in Congress, she focused on issues such as healthcare, labor policy, and infrastructure, and she was the first Republican woman to represent Oregon in the U.S. House of Representatives.
