Luísa Salgueiro is a Portuguese politician and legal consultant who has served as the Mayor of Matosinhos since 2017, becoming the first woman to hold the position. Previously, she was a member of the Assembly of the Republic from 2005 to 2017, where she represented the Porto constituency and held leadership roles within the Socialist Party parliamentary group, focusing on health, labor, and social security. A law graduate from the Catholic University of Portugal, she began her political career as a municipal councillor in Matosinhos in 1997. Beyond her local and national political duties, she has served as the president of the National Association of Portuguese Municipalities since 2021 and has been a frequent contributor to national newspapers on topics including public health and gender equality.
