Ricardo Rio

Ricardo Rio is a Portuguese politician and economist currently serving as the Mayor of Braga. A member of the Social Democratic Party (PSD), he was first elected to the position in 2013, ending 37 years of Socialist Party governance in the city. Rio has since secured consecutive re-elections, including an absolute majority in 2021. Throughout his tenure, he has focused on urban modernization, economic development, and the transformation of Braga into a smart city. Before his mayoral career, he served as a member of the Braga Municipal Assembly and held various roles in economic management and public administration.
