Edite Estrela

Edite Estrela is a Portuguese politician and educator currently serving as the First Vice-President of the Assembly of the Republic. A long-standing member of the Socialist Party, she previously served as a Member of the European Parliament from 2004 to 2014 and as the Mayor of Sintra from 1993 to 2001. Throughout her career, she has been a prominent advocate for gender equality, reproductive rights, and social policy. In addition to her parliamentary duties, she has held leadership roles in various international bodies, including the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, where she has focused on issues such as climate change and human rights.
