Ricardo Leão

Ricardo Leão is a Portuguese politician currently serving as the Mayor of Loures, a position he has held since 2021 and was re-elected to in 2025 with an absolute majority. A member of the Socialist Party, he previously served as a member of the Assembly of the Republic from 2015 to 2018 and again from 2019 to 2021. Throughout his career, Leão has been involved in local governance, having served as a city councillor and President of the Municipal Assembly of Loures. His tenure as mayor has been marked by significant urban development projects and controversial stances on housing and public order, including the demolition of illegal constructions and calls for the eviction of residents involved in civil disturbances.
