Carlos Moedas

Carlos Moedas is a Portuguese politician, civil engineer, and economist who has served as the Mayor of Lisbon since 2021. Previously, he held significant roles including European Commissioner for Research, Science and Innovation from 2014 to 2019 and Secretary of State to the Prime Minister of Portugal from 2011 to 2014. Before entering politics, he worked in investment banking and real estate management. He is a member of the Social Democratic Party and has been recognized for his contributions to European innovation policy.
