Luis Parra
Profile
Luis Parra is a Venezuelan politician currently serving as a member of the National Assembly. Originally a member of the Primero Justicia party, he was expelled in 2019 following allegations of involvement in the 'Operación Alacrán' corruption scandal, which included accusations of influence peddling related to government food programs. In January 2020, he was controversially sworn in as President of the National Assembly with the support of pro-government deputies, a move widely criticized by the opposition and international observers as lacking the necessary quorum. Parra has been subject to international sanctions by the United States and the European Union for his role in these political events.
