Luiz Marinho is a Brazilian politician and unionist currently serving as the Minister of Labour and Employment. A member of the Workers' Party, he previously served as the Minister of Social Security and as the Mayor of São Bernardo do Campo from 2009 to 2017. Marinho began his career as a metalworker at Volkswagen in the 1970s, where he became active in union leadership. Recognized for his negotiation skills, he was named one of the 50 Latin American Leaders for the New Millennium by Time and CNN in 1999.
