Washington Quaquá

Washington Quaquá is a Brazilian politician and sociologist currently serving as a member of the Chamber of Deputies representing the state of Rio de Janeiro. A prominent figure in the Workers' Party (PT), he previously served two terms as the mayor of Maricá, where he gained national attention for implementing a free public transit program funded by oil royalties. Throughout his career, he has been a polarizing figure, notably facing legal challenges regarding electoral conduct and drawing public attention for his ideological tributes, including the inauguration of a statue of Che Guevara in his municipality.
