Paulo Paim

Paulo Paim is a Brazilian politician and former steelworker affiliated with the Workers' Party (PT). He serves as a Senator representing the state of Rio Grande do Sul, having been elected in 2002 and re-elected in subsequent elections. Prior to his tenure in the Federal Senate, he was a federal deputy from 1987 to 2002 and a prominent trade union leader, including serving as vice-president of the Central Única dos Trabalhadores (CUT). Throughout his political career, Paim has been a notable advocate for workers' rights, pension protections, and social legislation, authoring measures such as the Elderly Statute.
