Luka Mesec is a Slovenian politician and activist who has served as a member of the National Assembly since 2014. Born in 1987, he rose to prominence as a leader of the eco-socialist party The Left, which he has headed since 2017. Mesec previously served as the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Labour, Family, Social Affairs and Equal Opportunities in the government of Robert Golob. A proponent of democratic socialism, he advocates for labor rights, participatory economics, and LGBTQ rights, while consistently opposing neoliberalism and tax havens.
