Luka Mesec

Luka Mesec is a Slovenian politician and activist who has served as a member of the National Assembly since 2014 and as the leader of The Left party since 2017. Born in Kranj, he holds a degree in European studies from the University of Ljubljana. Mesec rose to prominence as an activist in the 2012–13 Slovenian protests and later served as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Labour, Family, Social Affairs and Equal Opportunities. He is a proponent of democratic socialism, participatory economics, and labor rights, consistently advocating for social justice and the protection of the welfare state against neoliberal policies.
