Born in Dhaka in 1969, he earned his MBBS from Dhaka Medical College, an MSc in Clinical Ophthalmology from the University of Bristol, an MSc in Community Ophthalmology from University College London, and a PhD from the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine. He has a distinguished background in ophthalmology, academic administration as chairman of the University of South Asia, and non-profit leadership through CSF Global. Active with the Bangladesh Nationalist Party in Shahjadpur Upazila, he won his parliamentary seat in the 2026 general election and subsequently joined the cabinet of Tarique Rahman.
