Mária Gurzó

Mária Gurzó is a Hungarian politician and member of the National Assembly, representing the Békés County 4th constituency since her election in 2026. Born in 1968 in Méhkerék to an ethnic Romanian family, she is a trained stomatologist who graduated from the Carol Davila University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Bucharest in 1994. Before entering national politics, she served as a representative of the National Self-Government of Romanians in Hungary from 2024 to 2026. Gurzó is notable for taking her parliamentary oath in the Romanian language and has publicly defended her Romanian identity and citizenship in the face of political criticism regarding her ethnic background.
