Maël de Calan

Maël de Calan is a French politician who has served as the President of the Departmental Council of Finistère since 2021. A graduate of Sciences Po and HEC Paris, he began his political career within the UMP and later became a prominent figure in the moderate wing of the French right. He has served as a municipal councillor in Roscoff since 2014 and a departmental councillor for the canton of Saint-Pol-de-Léon since 2015. Known for his economic focus and anti-populist stance, he previously worked as a consultant for McKinsey & Company and was a candidate for the leadership of The Republicans in 2017. His tenure as departmental president has been marked by efforts to reform social welfare policies, specifically targeting RSA allocation management.
