Péter Magyar is a Hungarian politician and lawyer who has served as the Prime Minister of Hungary since May 2026. A former insider within the Fidesz party, he rose to prominence in 2024 following his resignation from government-related positions and his subsequent criticism of the Orbán administration's corruption. As the leader of the Tisza Party, he successfully campaigned on a platform of reform, transparency, and European integration, leading his party to a supermajority in the 2026 parliamentary election. Magyar describes himself as a critical pro-European and conservative liberal, focusing his administration on restoring the rule of law, dismantling party-state structures, and improving public services.
