He was elected to represent the Agiaon constituency in the 2025 Bihar Legislative Assembly election. Running as a candidate for the Bharatiya Janata Party, Paswan secured victory by defeating his nearest rival, Shiv Prakash Ranjan of the Communist Party of India (Marxist–Leninist) Liberation, by a margin of 95 votes.
