Maike Schaefer

Maike Schaefer is a German politician and biologist who has served as a member of the Bremische Bürgerschaft since 2007, with a brief interruption between 2019 and 2023. A member of Alliance 90/The Greens, she previously served as the Deputy Mayor and Senator for Climate Protection, Environment, Mobility, Urban Development, and Housing in the Bremen Senate from 2019 to 2023. During her tenure, she focused on urban traffic transformation and climate policy. Before entering politics, she worked as a research associate at the University of Bremen, where she earned her doctorate in natural sciences specializing in ecotoxicology.
