She previously served as a federal senator starting in 2019, having been chosen as the replacement for Gladson Cameli after he was elected governor. An alumna of the Federal University of Acre, she is notable for being one of the few women to represent the state in the federal senate. She is married to James Gomes, the former mayor of Senador Guiomard, and is a mother of two.
