Makis Keravnos

Makis Keravnos is a Cypriot politician, economist, and banker currently serving as the Minister of Finance of Cyprus, a position he has held since March 2023. A member of the Democratic Party, he previously served as Minister of Finance from 2004 to 2005 and as Minister of Labor and Social Security from 2003 to 2004. During his first tenure as Finance Minister, he played a pivotal role in Cyprus's entry into the European Exchange Rate Mechanism, a key step toward eurozone adoption. Beyond his government service, Keravnos has held significant roles in the private and public sectors, including serving as CEO of Hellenic Bank from 2005 to 2014 and as a board member for the Central Bank of Cyprus. In 2025, he briefly served as the acting president of the Eurogroup.
