Maliyakhe Shelembe

Maliyakhe Lymon Shelembe is a South African politician currently serving as a Member of the National Assembly. He began his political career as a ward councillor for the Inkatha Freedom Party in 2001 and later served as the mayor of the Umtshezi Local Municipality. After joining the National Freedom Party in 2011, he held the position of deputy mayor of the Uthukela District Municipality and served as the party's national chairperson. In 2019, Shelembe joined the Democratic Alliance and was subsequently appointed as a shadow deputy minister of Defence and Military Veterans. He was re-elected to the National Assembly in the 2024 general election.
