Marco Almeida

Marco Almeida is a Portuguese politician and teacher currently serving as the Mayor of Sintra. He began his political career in 1991 and has held various local government roles, including serving as Deputy Mayor of Sintra from 2001 to 2013. After running as an independent candidate in 2013, he rejoined the Social Democratic Party and was elected Mayor in 2025, ending twelve years of socialist governance in the municipality. He is an alumnus of the Faculty of Social and Human Sciences at NOVA University Lisbon.
