Marek Materek is a Polish politician and local government official who has served as the Mayor of Starachowice since 2014. A graduate of Jan Kochanowski University in Kielce and Collegium Civitas in Warsaw, he previously managed the regional office of MEP Róża Thun. Materek gained national attention as the youngest mayor in Poland upon his initial election. Throughout his career, he has been associated with various political movements, including the Civic Platform and the New Democracy – Yes party, though he currently serves as an independent mayor.
