She holds the distinction of being the first female Foreign Secretary of the United Kingdom, serving from 2006 to 2007, and was the first woman to serve as Deputy Leader of the Labour Party. Throughout her extensive career, she held several senior cabinet positions, including President of the Board of Trade, Leader of the House of Commons, and Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs.
