Margarita Zavala

Margarita Zavala is a Mexican lawyer and politician currently serving as a Member of the Chamber of Deputies representing Mexico City's 10th electoral district. A long-time member of the National Action Party (PAN), she previously served as the First Lady of Mexico from 2006 to 2012 during the presidency of her husband, Felipe Calderón. Throughout her career, she has held various legislative and party leadership roles, including serving as a deputy in the Legislative Assembly of the Federal District and the federal Congress. Zavala is known for her advocacy on women's rights and anti-addiction programs, and she notably ran as an independent candidate for the presidency of Mexico in 2018 before withdrawing from the race.
