Maria das Dores Meira

Maria das Dores Meira is a Portuguese politician and lawyer who currently serves as the Mayor of Setúbal, a position she assumed in 2025. She previously held the same office from 2006 to 2021, having initially taken over following the resignation of her predecessor. A long-time member of the Portuguese Communist Party (PCP) for over four decades, she transitioned to an independent status for her 2025 mayoral campaign. Beyond her mayoral duties, she served as a councilor for the Almada City Council from 2021 to 2024. In 2014, she was awarded the Order of Merit for her public service.
