Maria Gorete Pereira

Maria Gorete Pereira is a Brazilian politician and physiotherapist who has served as a Member of the Chamber of Deputies. Born in Juazeiro do Norte, she began her career in healthcare, leading the Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy Union of Fortaleza before entering politics. She served as a city councilor in Fortaleza and as a state deputy in Ceará. Throughout her legislative career, she has been affiliated with several parties, including the PFL, PL, and PR, and is currently associated with the MDB. Her legislative record includes support for the labor reform and the public spending ceiling, as well as opposition to the investigation of former President Michel Temer. In 2026, she became a target of the Federal Police's 'Operação Indébito' investigation regarding alleged fraud involving social security benefits.
