Maria Polyzou

Maria Polyzou is a Greek politician and former long-distance runner who currently serves as a Member of the Hellenic Parliament. Elected in the May 2023 legislative election via the New Democracy party's nationwide list, she transitioned into politics following a distinguished athletic career. As an athlete, she specialized in long-distance running and notably represented Greece in the women's marathon at the 1996 Summer Olympics. Her legislative work focuses on representing the national interest through the New Democracy platform.
