Marie-Françoise Mégie

Marie-Françoise Mégie is a Canadian physician, university professor, and former senator. Born in Jacmel, Haiti, she immigrated to Quebec in 1976 and built a distinguished career in medicine, specializing in palliative care and geriatrics. She served as an associate professor at the Université de Montréal for nearly three decades. Appointed to the Senate of Canada in 2016, she focused on issues including public health, accessibility, and systemic racism as a member of the Parliamentary Black Caucus. She retired from the Senate in 2025 upon reaching the mandatory retirement age.
