Marie Rimmer is a British Labour Party politician who has served as the Member of Parliament for St Helens South and Whiston since 2015. Before entering national politics, she had a long career in local government, serving as a councillor for the St Helens Metropolitan Borough Council and holding the position of council leader on three separate occasions between 1978 and 2014. Earlier in her professional life, she worked at the Pilkington Glass manufacturing plant. Appointed a CBE in 2005 for her services to local government, Rimmer has held various parliamentary roles, including a brief tenure as Shadow Minister for Disabled People and as an opposition whip.
