Mark Henry Durkan is a Northern Irish politician and a member of the Social Democratic and Labour Party (SDLP). First elected to the Northern Ireland Assembly in 2011 representing the Foyle constituency, he previously served as the Minister of the Environment from 2013 to 2016. Throughout his career, Durkan has focused on issues such as housing, social development, and the protection of vulnerable citizens. Before his time in the Assembly, he served on the Derry City Council starting in 2005. He is a nephew of former SDLP leader Mark Durkan.
